Netflix updated, now supports all devices with Android 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread

Netflix continues to be one of the most acclaimed apps for Android users. While this app took a while to be released, everyone rejoiced upon finding out that it would finally come to the Android platform. The joy didn’t last too long for most, though, since the Netflix app only supported a few devices at launch.

While the supported device list kept slowly growing and more users were able to enjoy streaming their movies, it still covered only a small percentage of all Android users. People restored to manually installing the .apk file. This method worked for the most of us, but it was still a little bothersome at times. This process is no longer necessary, as Netflix has just updated its app in the Android Market. This service now supports all Android devices with Android verison 2.2 (Froyo) and 2.3 (Gingerbread).

This definitely comes as great news. Android 2.2/2.3 covers over 80% of all Android users (according to last month’s distribution report), and most of us are now be able to get it officially.

If you haven’t yet, head to the Android Market and download Netflix on your device! All you should need is Android 2.2 or Android 2.3 (in supported countries). Now we just have to wait for official tablet support, since most tablet users still have to install the app unofficially.

If you want to download the Netflix Android app, simply click on the link below or use the QR code to head straight to the Android Market. Has anyone checked this out yet? Are you having any issues? Let us know how it goes, and happy streaming!
