It looks like the days are numbered for the original Samsung Galaxy Tab. Samsung has just announced the new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus which runs on a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and Android Honeycomb 3.2. Other specs include 1 GB of RAM, 16 or 32 GB of internal storage, 3 megapixel camera capable of shooting 720p video, front-facing 2 megapixel camera, WiFi 802.11 (2.4 and 5 GHz), GPS, Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 3G, and a 7-inch 1024 x 600 resolution capacitive display.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will be hitting store shelves in Austria and Indonesia in late October but will also be pushed out gradually to Asia, US, Europe, CIS, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Japan and China. Pricing details have not been released, but we’re assuming the Tab 7.0 Plus will hit the market right below the $400 mark.
It’s pretty obvious that Samsung wants to gain a strong foothold in the tablet market. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will be the fourth Honeycomb tablet from Samsung to go on sale in less than six months. There’s a huge gap between Samsung and Apple, but it looks like Samsung will be putting some good distance between themselves and their Android competitors.
