I would say this is a no brainer. Not only might the main feed get cluttered, there’s also the out of sight out of mind part of it. What I mean by that is if I’m at work and see a song on a main feed, I probably won’t listen to it. I’ll probably forget about it by the time I get home. But if there is a seperate tab for music, I may get into the habbit of checking the music tab when I get home and have time to listen to new stuff.

You know, I was going to go with the latter (much ado about nothing) but you bring up a good point. I’m a music junkie and although I would not mind being bombarded with new music posts, I would probably forget to look up those suggestions later when I got the time unless there was a dedicated Music section to corral all the shares.

So yes, I do think there should be a dedicated section for music, but at the same time I think we should still be allowed to share suggestions to our streams.

Maybe they could implement a way so you could Search for only posts with the Google Music widget on it on the “Search Google+” box. It could simple, no need to create a whole section many won’t mind not having, and the search will give you a nice list I guess.

    • AppleFUD

You make a good point. I would be more likely to check a music tab/circle and run through all recently purchased shared music to see what my “friends” think is worth buying. . . but in a main feed, yeah that’ll get lost quickly.

  • http://None Javier Bastardo

Not all people are into buying music, or share them, even more since the service is only U.S. available. Just like it is show in one of the videos you could create an “Audiophile” circle and just share with them, people who are deeply into music wont mind having their stream filled with new or undiscovered songs, I imagine.

But, I must say the idea of a whole new tab just for music isn’t all that bad. Maybe it could have an option so you can set if the Music notifications appear or not on the regular Stream, and instead of having Featured Games it could have Featured Bands.

Me personally, I’m not worried of having my G+ clustered with songs, just as I do not worry about animated gifs, of which I see only a couple per day. G+ is really about personal experience, not really the same for all users.

Yeah, I think that regardless of if they add a Music tab (like they have for Games) I definitely think they should give users the option disabling music shares in your main G+ stream! Google need to make sure that for every new feature they add (and you can be sure that there are many more to come!) there is an option to make said feature hidden to you

Especially for such a big feature as Music.

        • http://None Javier Bastardo

After the initial period I’m no longer seeing Music posts on my Stream, ‘cept a very few and disperse ones from people that works at Google. This doesn’t proof anything about Music itself, but I think the fact that it is only for U.S. residents really has an effect on this.

So being a member here shows I’m an obvious Google/Android fan. What I don’t get is that almost everyone in the industry is happy and glad to see yet another competitor in the digital music industry.

But yesterday I read the one review that totally trashed Google Music, and that was by Adrian Covert at Gizmodo. He really had nothing nice to say, and even downplayed the 20,000 free songs uploaded as well, since you have to “upload” them. I don’t get how anyone can say 20,000 songs (that you can use as a back up and access virtually anywhere) without paying a monthly or yearly fee is no big deal. He is a total moron and a fool.

I’m not excited about getting music through Google, but at least I get another option from iTunes and Amazon. Hell, I haven’t bought a song from iTunes in at least 2 years. I still prefer CDs. Yes, I’m old school in that way.

Sorry, had to rant about stupid iPhone loving douchebags. Google Music for its 20,000 song upload for free to the cloud is worth it alone, the rest is just icing on the cake in my opinion.

    • http://www.infotainmentempire.com pekosROB

Oh yeah, and might as well have tighter G+ integration, it would help the activity increase on G+ and sharing songs with your friends sounds like something that should be going on in a social network like G+.

      • Droid Dewd

Yeah I had to check out that Gizmodo article –if you could call it that more like a long winded rant. I can’t say he’s a Apple fanboy but he sure has a beef against Google. Looks more like an opinion piece than a real article to me.

i couldn’t care less for music sharing.
i’d definately consider it spam if i see it in the main stream.
it needs its own section or just to go away.

I’m sure Google will be tweaking things once it’s been out for a while. Those of us who use G+ know how quickly they change or add features. Google will be watching things closely to see how Google Music shares impact people feeds. The last thing they want right now is to have people quit on G+ because of Google Music.

I think their approach for now is to integrate the shares in order to get more people to use Google Music and build a solid customer base.

  • mshramek

I definitely think so. That would make it very easy to find the music your friends are listening to without cluttering up the feed with a bunch of songs.

  • thaJack

Agreed. I also believe that posting an animated GIF should be punishable by death.
