Galaxy Nexus now on sale in North America (Canada)

Sick of waiting on Verizon to release their version of the Galaxy Nexus? Those of you that live up north might want to cross the border this weekend as Canadian carriers Bell and Virgin Mobile have just launched the Galaxy Nexus today. Both carriers are selling the device for $159 with a 3-year contract, but you can also pick it up at the full retail price of $649.

The Galaxy Nexus being sold in Canada is the same penta-band GSM version that launched last month in Europe and other countries. It supports HSPA+ 21 Mbps and you should have no problem popping in a SIM card from AT&T or T-Mobile.

We have been hoping to see this unlocked GSM version available at US retailers like Best Buy or Radio Shack, but apparently the exclusive deal that Google gave to Verizon is preventing that from happening.

Neither Verizon, Google, nor Samsung will comment on the US availability of the GSM version, so we will just have to sit and wait for now.
