Are you a lover of QWERTY keyboards? Verizon’s Motorola Droid 4 is scheduled to launch this week and the guys from Wirefly spent some hands-on time with the device this weekend. Highlights of the Droid 4 include an edge-lit, 5-row keyboard, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 4-inch qHD display, 1 GB RAM, dual cameras, and support for Verizon’s blazing fast 4G LTE network. Check out the video below and let us know if you plan on picking one up.

*sigh* they couldn’t throw an NFC chip in there?

  • spazby

    I love the price….

Looks alright, but I’m really not a fan of hardware keyboards on touchscreen phones. Just doesn’t do it for me. Leave it out and shave a little extra thickness off it.

Plus as someone else already said, I was expecting NFC to be standard on pretty much ever phone released this year.

      *every phone, dammit.

what? you mean EXACTLY like the Droid Razr?

It’s always been slideout QWERTY for me. Nokia Communicator to HTC Wizard to HTC Dream to Droid 2 Global

Keyboards on touchscreen phones is essential for me. Touchscreen interfaces are great because of a lot of things. But composing long winded messages and documents and thoughts is not one of them. A few millimeters is insignificant if the tradeoff is a nice QWERTY keyboard

Fondled? Yes, report dirty to me…

I would love phones with hardware keyboard :) But Motorola next time plz put in the NFC chip and a quad-core processor! *cough* Motorola Jet *cough*

…waiting for the obvious “just wait for the Droid 5 in two months” post. Ugh.

I don’t get why their bezel is so thick

  • yankeesusa

This phone looks really sleek. I just wish motorola unlocked their bootloaders then maybe I would think of getting them when sprint releases lte.

Looks like a nice phone for those who want a keyboard and lte. Wonder how the battery life will be on this?

  • benben

    I want an HTC G3/Desire Z 2, thank you.
Actually, I would settle to add more RAM and a ffc to my Desire Z if I could.

The droid series is the only legitimate worthy keyboard smartphones left. I know alot of people just cant stand on screen keyboards. Def hope it stays around.

  • Max.Steel

    C’mon, T-Mobile! Give us that G3.

  • McLovin

    Yes, long live physical keyboards!

  • redraider133

I think they should have kept the same look as the droid 3 just with these internals. Not liking the look of the droid 4 and how it seems longer and wider because of the large bezel.
