HTC teases, “This Sunday you’ll discover something fast”

htc-mwc2012-teaser

This weekend is the time that HTC fans have been waiting for. On Sunday in Barcelona, HTC will hold their press conference for Mobile World Congress and unveil their full lineup of 2012 devices. Today HTC posted an image of a generic phone with the number 5 and a message that read, “This Sunday you’ll discover something fast.”

We think the number 5 could represent the 5-cores inside the Tegra 3 processor that powers the HTC One X, or it could simply be that we are 5 days away from the event.

HTC says the show will begin at 8:30 PM Barcelona time, which is 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST in the United States. We don’t know if they are providing a live stream yet, but we will be sure to let you know if one is available.

What surprises do you think HTC has in store? Any guesses what the number 5 represents?

I think the five is the count down of days. So the Sunday is day one which is the name of the phone.

    Makes sense to me.

5 new devices in their 2012 lineup?

      Make sense!

It could also mean 5 days and 5 new phones. Unless they have a 5-core cpu… If you think that they want to release a Tegra3 phone (which has 4+1 cores), it might be true.

    5″ Phone? I hope so!

I’m guessing it’s a simple countown until the HTC One line of devices is unveiled on day #1 which would fall on Sunday. Can’t wait!

    it’s the new HTC iPhone5!

    • Voliam

Running stock Android 5.0 and a hex-core CPU!

      • Voliam

Make that a penta-core CPU in keeping with the ’5′.

If it changes to 4 or 3 then we’ll definitely know its the number of days. 5 cores….jeez, cant wait to see what u can do with something that powerful.

Didn’t Taylor blog that the new Quad-cores were really 5 cores. The 5th being a low wattage core that was mainly used be your Android device is idling i.e. resting ?

Great concept or did I just dream that ?

The 5 core Tegra-3 Kal-el is already being used in the Asus Transformer Prime.

  • sunrise

How does power consumption of Tegra-3 Kal-el compare to current dual core chips such as S3, current dual core exynos, and Ti-Omap?

Can’t wait hopefully the phone will have a physical camera button & the video recordink microphone will not be tinny like most HTC phones.

New tech announcements are so exciting!

5 GhZ, 5 cores, 5 GB main memory, 5 mpx front camera for 5 bucks

Hopefully one of the new phones released this year will be the T-Mobile G3, its about time for a new phone in the G series from HTC. I think TMO putting the G2 back on its website for sale was a precursor to the announcement of the new G3.

My guess is 3 phones to represent a specific trim and 2 tablets for what size screen fits the user

HTC better have something good up their sleeves.
