Acer CloudMobile struts its stuff on video

News travels fast, apparently. Hot off the heels of Acer announcing the entry-level Liquid Glow comes a leaked hands-on video with Acer’s flagship device, the Acer CloudMobile, making it’s glam appearance at Milan’s Fashion Week. The folks at Cellulare Magazine produced the hands-on video of the CloudMobile, showing off the device’s crisp, bright screen and super responsive UI.

The CloudMobile is rumored to be one beast of a device, laying claim to the following impressive, yet incomplete spec sheet:

1.5 GHz dual-core processor
Android 4.1
4.3″ HD display with 1280 x 720 resolution
8 megapixel rear-facing camera
NFC
Dolby Mobile Audio

The Acer CloudMobile is still a prototype device at this point, and won’t launch to the general public until Q3 2012. We’ll be on-hand next week in Barcelona, and will hopefully be able to hunt down and get our hands on a prototype.

Releasing entry level and high end devices is good, playing both sides of the field is also smart. The specs look acceptable so far though. Design looks pretty good too.

  It’s the fact that there’s TWO sets of buttons: software and hardware. If they chose one or the other then I don’t think it’d be a big deal. (Although I think from this point forward, most will prefer soft keys.)

    Oooh okay..I understand a bit better now. In either case…if a phone has outstanding specs but 2 sets of buttons – couldnt care less imo- but at the same time removing them is a step forward, and I support that moreso.

    ie, the software is not fully baked. It’s fairly simple for them to have the s/w buttons not appear, but they still have to tell the OS they have h/w buttons.

I believe the article said this is a prototype. I assume buttons will be removed come Q3.

I’m assuming that the final build of the device will forego the capacitive soft keys. It’s silly to have two home keys and two back keys right next to each other.

I can’t say any of these devices are setting my world alight so far, which is a real shame as Acer is a company that’s done a lot for us in laptops, nervous and tablets so I’d like them to succeed with their phones.

Why does it have the capacitive buttons and the one screen buttons? Waste of screen space having both IMO.
