Verizon lists devices that will receive Android 4.0 upgrades

No dates for the upgrades were provided, but based on the timelines of the manufactures we expect some could arrive as early as this month. Verizon tells their customers that they should follow @VZWNews on Twitter for additional upgrade announcements.

I’m not shocked that the Motorola Droid X2 is not on the ICS upgrade list. Motorola has enough issues getting out stable 2.X updates to their devices, I wouldn’t want to see how buggy an ICS Droid X2 would be. I am a little surprised that the Samsung Droid Charge isn’t on there, as it compares to the HTC Thunderbolt spec wise.

    • fulaman

It’s because Samsung fails. There are many phones that compare spec wise with the thunderbolt. It’s all a game that these manufacturers are playing.

Can’t +1 this enough. My Samsung Vibrant still runs FROYO!

Droid Charge MIA took me by surprise, thought it would be there…

I have the thunderbolt and I’ve had samsung and they take forever to update their phones and blame it on verizon.

  • redraider133

It’s a shame moto can’t even update the droid x2 which came out after the thunderbolt and has similar/better specs

    • fulaman

It had far better specs than the thunderbolt.

      • redraider133

Processor is about only thing x2 has on the thunderbolt. Thunderbolt more ram than x2

  • fulaman

I find it quite funny that two phones with single core processors ate getting the update and Dancing said they can’t update their Galaxy S line to ICS….lol.

Anyways I’m rooted and running ICS.

    • fulaman

Oops auto-correct fail. “Samsung” not “dancing” and “are” instead of “ate”

Got my Droid 4 in yesterday, now I’m ready for some ICS.

  • bellken

I think we would all love to see some dates for ICS updates.

  • gtrovil

I guess that the Droid 3 would fall into the “additional upgrade announcements” category? Because Moto still has it listed as being in eval. I would hate to think that VZW kills an ICS upgrade but the manufacturer is still willing to upgrade the device.

What is going on? Where is the Droid X2 update? Its got a dual core processor so it can handle it!!! Come on Motorola give us an update at least to a 3.0 or ice cream sandwich, give us something better than what we have now!!! Please…….

    • Christopher Wueste

Not to be “that guy”, but technically, Android 3.0 is a tablet only OS. It will never be seen in any official form on a phone. ICS is Android 4.0.

    • romy134

your still rocking froyo? with a dual core? wtf???

  • Nathan D.

Keeping their costumers updated, nice going but they are missing some of the other old high-end phones though but lets wait and see.

Show the X2 some love Verizon!

Strange, I have a Sony Xperia Play and I thought I remember Sony saying that the Xperia Play was a device that was going to get bumped to 4.0. Why is verizon NOT planning on making it ICS?

    • Keirke

I was thinking the same thing

  • ss

i’m waiting for ICS on my 7.7 tab.. i hope someone will make it available from Verizon to all 7.7 tabs worlwide!!

  • redraider133

I wonder if the HTC devices will get sense 4.0 or if they will get a different version like htc did with sense previously?

    • http://Note Uncemister

I was wondering the same thing. I have a feeling that they will go the same route they did for the sensation and only give it 3.6 :( oh well at least its still an improvment.

  • jay p

my next phone wont be a motoral thats for sure.

  • steve b

Really enjoying my RAZR MAXX but looking forward to ICS.
