Aww, man. I was hoping this was you guys covering it!

    • Taylor Wimberly

We do have someone at the event. They will be posting their hands-on impressions later today.

I’m not too excited really I was just bummed out when I heard about the Exynos 4412 and Snapdragon S4 configurations being used in these upcoming Next Galaxy models. I feel that each year Samsungs quality kind of decreases.

The first Galaxy S was a smash hit with a GPU that is still being used in phones today and that GPU was twice as powerful as the one found in the iphone 4 (I’m still using the first Galaxy S albeit the Verizon variant).

The second Galaxy S (Galaxy S II) was a great phone in its own right and possibly the best smartphone of 2012. Its hardware components were top-notch except for the sound device hardware component not matching up to the previous Galaxy S..The Mali 400 GPU was good and only bested by the GPU in the iphone 4S.

Fast-foward to 2012, with false promises from Samsung that they would have best in class GPU. Turns out that this will most likely not be the case. The Exynos 4412 uses the same GPU as last years model of the Galaxy S II which is a far weaker gpu found than in the one on the iphone 4S (which is almost a year old). The Snapdragon S4 also uses a GPU inferior to that of the iphone 4S. None of these phones has a GPU that compares or even comes close to the PowerVR 543mp4 found in the new iPad.

Call me crazy, but I hope the Galaxy S III is a huge failure and doesn’t sell well if it comes out with subpar specs. Samsung did extremely well with their first Galaxy S phone, at the time it truly had hardware unsurpassed (best gpu, best screen, most powerful processor). The only thing was laggy touchwiz 3.0 crap.

Can you not wait 20 minutes to see if you’re actually disappointed? Don’t come in here raining on everyone’s parade.

      • Fulaman

        Huge dissapointment of a phone

    • ButcherChop

Damn dude, you’re such a Debbie Downer nerd. Go outside and play instead of coming in here with your two cents. Nobody wants to hear some anonymous person blurting out his opinion on rumor and even if it wasn’t, nobody cares.

      • Fulaman

I admit I am a nerd but why should I get second or third rate tech? I won’t anyways :-D

    • Rovex

So its the most powerful device you can buy, with the most features of any phone and its ‘sub-par’?? Wow you people are picky..

      • Fulaman

Most powerful device you can buy for how long? A month at most? Samsung is known for bringing out phones that last for a while. Not rubbish that gets outdated the next day. They really should have used the Exynos 5250 and upgraded the Camera.

Did anyone see BGR’s “exclusive” “screenshot” yesterday? I truly enjoy their insanity.

  • Mr Mufakka

Is this IT?!?? Just noticed GSM Arena already has it listed? All based on rumored specs?

    • Nate B.

Where have you been the past month or so lol? That was rumored and leaked as a fake (the image anyways) so long ago. It was one of the first.

  • sgb101

I’m gutted, I thought the time wad 7pm GMT, buts it seems its at 8pm, or what is better known as beerO’clock.

hopefully it will be on you tube for me to watch later, not that I’ll need to , as I have a feeling the blogosphere is going to go into meltdown.

  • mikeytusa

I’d much rather watch it on than Facebook anyways.

Please Samsung… a geek friendly AOSP support out of the box… Am I asking too much??

    • kzlife

I’m with you, though I like how they are using folders in the launcher in touchwiz.. Haven’t been able to make folders and re-arrange apps in my own order in ICS.. anyone know if there’s a way to make it happen?

  • mikeytusa

    And…. green flashes.

  • Bpear96

“the show is about to begin ” :D

  • Y314K

What.. It comes with AOKP rom from factory… Hell’s Yeah…

LOL… Well hopefully it will leave up to 50% of our expectations..

    • Y314K

U had me at Micro SD expansion…lol

  • ButcherChop

Glad to find it here. Hey Samsung!! Not everybody has Facebook or access to it at work!

  • halo0

stream is blocked at work and it’s not even working in samsung’s own app! Fail.

  • David

Nice guts, but it’s ugly. Not gonna lie.

  • kzlife

Watch the vid to see the sgs3.

    Glossy back!! – Nooo D:
4.8″ display – Why not just get the note?
    Touchwiz UI of course

Sorry for bashing the new device but it doesn’t seem to be worth upgrading from sgs2 as the new one only have a bigger screen and a little bit better specs… Hope the battery life is good though :)

  • san_8616

samsung will try to solve problems from S2 and new challenge from Nokia lumia series

  • jd

    no on screen buttons :(

  • txbluesman

That was quick. It looks nice. I like how they leave the release date wide open for North America, “This Summer”……hummm.

  • Rovex

    Ok, sorry HTC, your out!

  • Mix

I have to pay for an HDMI adapter?….WTF.

  • Jorge Vieira

and the one x reign has come to an end so soon.

  • Y314K

Is it going to be a new world record…

How many phone geeks can u fit in a box ???

  • Fulaman

It really isn’t a worthy upgrade to the GS2 (heck even to the original Galaxy S)

  • Nathan D.

    I couldn’t watch it =(

  • Moises Rivera

There really was no need for a huge event just to announce the S III, especially with the disappointment i felt with the upgrade. Pretty much like the iPhone 4S to the 4, not that much of a difference.

    • Fulaman

      So true

  • Dhaval

These things happen in giant organizations and you cannot plug the holes. And sometimes, such news items are used as marketing gimmicks, though Samsung phones do not need to trick their customers into any phony deal.
