Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G LTE clears U.S. Customs – pre-order deliveries to start on May 24th

The delayed launch of the HTC EVO 4G LTE has officially come to an end. Sprint has just released a statement indicating that pre-order customers will receive their HTC EVO 4G LTE “on or around” May 24th — just one day after the May 23rd launch date claimed by Best Buy. This is certainly good news for those who have pre-ordered the phone, but we’d like to point out that the date only applies to those who pre-ordered the phone directly from Sprint’s website. Those who snatched up discounted pre-order deals from Amazon or Best Buy will most likely have to wait a few extra days before their handset is delivered.

Neither HTC nor Sprint have indicated when the handset will be available in retail stores, but we assume HTC EVO 4G LTE handsets shouldn’t have any issues making it through U.S. Customs going forward.

I don’t plan to buy one (especially since it’s on Sprint) but it’s good that it’s cleared Customs. It was BS that it was held back but at least it wasn’t for very long.

I preordered one for my wife through best buy because they are offering two 50 dollar gift-cards one for upgrading thru them and one for activating an Evo LTE with them….Not bad. I can wait a few days more.

Saw a dummy model at my local Best Buy, and I gotta say, I wasn’t that impressed. Giant rectangular slab of black and red, with the top portion on the back being a fingerprint magnet. Granted, slapping a case on the thing will alleviate most of my perceived cosmetic issues, but I still believe the Galaxy Nexus looks better. Not saying looks are everything or that the Evo LTE is crap, but I’m not really that “wowed” by it. Add in the fact that multitasking is all but gone thanks to HTC’s implementation of Sense 4 (from what I hear, you can’t stream Pandora while messing around in say, Maps), and that’s a deal breaker for me. Galaxy Nexus, here I come.

  “Dude, seriously” chill the f*ck out. Yeah, I “reviewed” a “piece of plastic”, a “model” as you describe it. But you know what? It’s my damn opinion what I think of it. Not yours. Models of things look (and usually feel) exactly like the original, so if I don’t like the look and feel of a model, a non-working exact replica of the original, then I probably won’t like the original. I’m not saying I won’t like it when it’s eventually released, but for now, I’m leaning towards the Galaxy Nexus. That’s my honest opinion. Take it or leave it, but don’t you dare put down my opinion as if it’s stupid or moronic, because then you’re no better than Richard Yarrell who actually does call people “broke”, “bums”, or “fools” just because their opinions differ from his.

  And no, I’m not really “speculating” as it’s been shown with the One X that HTC has indeed tweaked the RAM management so that “less important” apps get killed off more easily in favor of keeping Sense always running. The whole situation has been quite annoying and I have yet to get an email from Sprint or a tracking number.They should have been more forthcoming.I heard about the situation by scoping tech sites last week and when I called Sprint they claimed I would have it by 5/18.Nice to be lied to….
