Today Verizon Wireless announced that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 would be available beginning August 17 for $349. Highlights of the device include Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 3.2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 8GB of internal storage, microSD slot and support for 4G LTE.

Samsung normally sells the WiFi-only version of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for $249, so Verizon customers will be paying a $100 premium for 4G LTE access. Since Verizon now allows free mobile hotspot with their Share Everything plans, we think it might be wiser to just get a WiFi-only tablet and tether it to your phone when needed.

Having said that, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is still a solid Android tablet and it’s now the cheapest 4G LTE tablet on Verizon. If you absolutely need a tablet with 4G LTE connectivity, then this is the way to go for now.
