New HTC DLX details rumored by renowned HTC tipster

Those of you not impressed with the recently announced HTC One X+ may be able to muster a bit of excitement for new details surrounding the upcoming HTC 6435LVW, expected to land on Verizon’s LTE network later this fall. According to a tweet by @Football4PDA (a source which has a proven track record when it comes to HTC rumors), the upcoming HTC device will be known as the HTC DLX and will run on Android 4.1.2 with a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 5-inch Full HD display, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, 2 and 12 megapixel cameras, and a 2,500 mAh battery.

The details revealed by @Football4PDA confirm the majority of the HTC DLX specs we first reported back in mid-September and closely match the HTC Nexus 5 rumor that GSM Arena reported on a few weeks back. The only thing we got wrong was mistaking the lower case “L” in the HTC DLX name for an upper case “i”.

If the rumors turn out to be true, we now have a complete spec sheet for the HTC DLX. While it would be exciting to see the HTC DLX as the framework for an HTC Nexus device, we still don’t have enough evidence to convince us that it will actually happen.

These manufacturers need to focus on software support instead of rolling out a different phone every couple months. I’m looking either the Galaxy Nexus or the Note II in the next couple months, and HTC isn’t going to be able to anything to sway me at this point.

  Hahahaha… Thats the dumbest thing I have heard on here. You want manufactures to focus on software and not tool different phones? But then you want a Samsung who does nothing but roll out a new phone every week with zero software support. I think Samsung has put out 36 phones this year…. With zero software support. Poor WiFi, poor GPS and a crappy UI in touch wiz… Thank God for HTC…

    Samsung is notorious for shoving out handsets.
    i think HTC is on the right track here… just not sure why they have no traction with the market yet.
    
    We need well built beautiful devices like the OneX or OneX+ or this device (on Verizon – please), with the Nexus brand for latest updates. I could care less about manufacturer skins…
    Vanilla Android + HTC build quality and camera + Moto-like battery life = the sweet spot

      Downvoting because in my experience I’ve had two updates in 12 months on sgs2. They rolled out ICS before a lot of other manufacturers. Very good software support.

    I agree on the crappy UI of touch wiz, but i received 2 software updates from samsung in the last 2-3 months on my Galaxy S III

      Samsung may have it’s issues, but Galaxy S products are fully supported. Especially the GS3.
      
      HTC needs to do more for the UX. PERIOD. I jumped ship from HTC to Samsung because of this. And they keep twisting their words. They said they were going to have less devices and focus on the One Line. Then they release the One V, S, X, XL, VX, and X+… not to mention the EVO 4G LTE, EVO Design 4G, EVO V 4G, Desire X, C and V and the Droid Incredible 4G LTE. Why not just make 3 models for all android markets? Like Small medium and large? The One V, S and X (and XL for LTE/US variants) we don’t need a variant of a variant.

    It’s pretty clear your clueless concerning this matter. Samsung has bitch slapped Htc silly since the Galaxy S2, Epic touch 4g,Galaxy Skyrocket, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, and now Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 with the Galaxy Nexus 2 upcoming. Don’t hate my friend appreciate the way Samsung has brought innovative software to market. Samsung and it’s nature UI makes Htc useless. The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 alone makes any Htc device look useless my current Galaxy S3 has 80gb of storage. Name one Htc device that has 80gb of storage or the chance to enjoy 128gb of storage.       1. The Galaxy SII, Epic touch 4G (which is actually Epic 4G Touch, BTW), and Galaxy Skyrocket were all pretty much the same phone, just on different carriers. The fact that you listed them as separate phones when “Galaxy SII line” would have sufficed speaks volumes of your ignorance.
      2. You realize in other posts you’ve said the Galaxy Nexus was “crappy compared to [your] Galaxy S3″, and here you are saying it’s a good phone to have? What a f*cking hypocrite.
      3. Samsung is not really “innovating”. They’re throwing out a whole sh*tload of features and hoping that a few of them will take off. But the fact is, most of these “advancements” are nothing more than gimmicks. Pop-up player? Yeah I really want to strain myself looking at a <2 inch video that can only be stored locally. Most of the "innovations" Samsung has come up with have been implemented months before (S Voice, Smart Keyboard, and Smart Stay to name a few) or are better from 3rd party apps.
      4. "Name one Htc device that has 80gb of storage or the chance to enjoy 128gb of storage" The Evo 4G LTE. 16 GB internal + 64 GB micro SD card = 80 GB. Boom. You've just been proven wrong.   If the rumors are true, we could be looking at a global phone with GSM bands. Verizon left the GSM bands on the iPhone 5 unlocked. Let’s hope they do the same with the HTC DLX.

I’m honestly waiting for an HTC Nexus based on the HTC DLX. HTC makes incredibly hardware, but I’m at the point where I simply want stock Android on my phones from now on. Sense has a handful of features which I still like, but they are not compelling enough to keep me from having the latest and greatest version of Android.

  I am sort of in the same boat, no more skins for me and I do prefer HTC but with the right specs so I may hang in a bit longer to see if there is any truth to the multiple NEXUS rumor, would be nice to have a bit of a choice…

I’m an HTC fanboy and for the love of GOD Tmobile could use something like this. REgardless I love all the specs especially the battery. Maybe HTC finally heard our cries about how crappy they are with selecting a small battery. Now all we need is a removable SD card and for this to show up on all carriers. To those on verizon you are lucky!

I may be reading to much into this but couldn’t we assume there will be a HTC Nexus? This is running the latest version of Android that was released today. How else would they be able to already have the newest version on a phone that will release in a month or 2?

  Google announced back at I/O that they are handing over the Android PDK to trusted OEMs in advance. This means that LG, Sony, Samsung, HTC, Motorola and other already have their hands on Android 4.1.2.

“One step forward, two steps back” … as usually with HTC.

The 1080p screen is huge step forward i am waiting for two years. You have heard that from me here many times ( and downvoted vigorously ROTFLMAO)

And it has actually even THREE steps back.

1.5GB RAM,
16GB flash
and only 2500mAh non-removable battery(!!!)

are those steps back. Why HTC is rattling its fans? Something is telling me that all that and specifically battery saga will eventually kill HTC… RAZR MAXX has 3300mAh for almost a year… HTC can’t ….pathetic. Remember, HTC, you have to be always at least 10% better then anyone else to succeed.

  I disagree. HTC has an incredible software team and have been pushing innovation with Android and Windows Mobile for years. Compare stock Windows Mobile 6.1 to HTC phone with Touch FLo and Android 1.5 to the first version of HTC Sense.

I’m slightly confused on the name of the device. Shouldn’t it be DIX not DLX? Droid Incredible X….
I know I know HTC DIX is so very much a bad choice in names for obvious reasons, but I didn’t name it. =P

  As I mentioned in the post, the details I received from my source several weeks ago included the HTC Dlx name, but I mistook the L for an i due to the capitalization. Based on that, I made the assumption that the phone would be named the HTC DROID Incredible X.

Say what you want about HTC and their choices lately, but I think I just spotted my next phone. The 2,500 mAh battery on the HTC DLX is plenty to get my through a full day. Yeah, the Motorola phones have a larger battery, but imagine how much bigger this phone would be if you added another 500 mAh.
