Rumors have been circulating for several months that Google would release a Nexus 10 tablet, and now CNET is reporting that Samsung will produce it. Richard Shim, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch said, “”[Google] will partner with Samsung and co-brand it with Samsung. It’s going to be a high-end device.”
The analyst goes on to say the device will feature a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600. That means the pixels-per-inch (PPI) will be 299, higher than the 264 PPI display found in the new iPad.
We saw a Samsung prototype tablet with this display back in January at CES, but it never appeared as a retail product. Recent benchmarks have also revealed that there is a Samsung device in testing with an Exynos 5 Dual processor. Finally, CNET also reports that Google will “start production on a $99 tablet in December,” confirming another Digitimes rumor that said ASUS would produce a $99 version of the Nexus 7.
