I have purchased between 0 and 3 Nexus 4 phones. I’m not sure but Discover seems to think I bought 2. Interested to see what actually shows up…

If you use Google Wallet you may want to check your transactions as some people are reporting that the order went through even when it says there was an error.

So the VZW Droid DNA announcement got in my head long enough that I hesitated to read the return policy on the Nexus, and when I clicked proceed to checkout I got the same error. Cart empty. At least this way I might get a chance to read a review of the DNA. LTE, polycarbonate back, and rural coverage might be useful, despite the price.

Thank you Google, for handling this so poorly. Official U.S. Launch will be 9:00AM PST, phone goes on sale around 8:35AM. I had the damn thing in my cart, filled in my personal info, got an error. Now it’s sold out, with a “coming soon” label. I never got a notification email in the first place, how am I to believe I’ll be notified next time.

    Agreed as well, I was on it soon as the devices came available, 1 nexus 4, 1 bumper and 1 nexus 10.
    Then the errors, 10 minutes later with constant praying and clicking Proceed I just saw one after the next vanish from my cart.
    
    This really has left a sour taste in my mouth for google.

they told me insufficient funds and i almost had a heart attack but it was because i pressed refresh and it doubled my order but they let me fix it now im getting a Nexus 4 and bumper case. FUCK YEA

I got “Add To Cart” on 16GB, clicked it, then the next screen said “Cart Is Empty.” “Coming Soon” after that. Oh and I never got that notification email I signed up for 2 weeks ago…

Mine got hung up on the purchase popup, so I wash’t sure if it went through. But it is showing up on wallet, and the amount is no longer available on my credit card, so I assume it did.

Just got my NEXUS it was stressfull. Like on eBay when your about to win the bid. Took me about 30minutes. Chicago I started at 10:40 got done at 11:07. THANK YOU GOOGLE. maybe because I used my Xoom tablet to make the purchase.

Kicked me out of my shopping cart and removed the Nexus 4. When i tried to add it back in, it has reverted back to the “nofify me” screen instead of add to cart. I was on right at 9am, are you saying it is already sold out? Google Sucks

Also many moments of trepidation trying to get 32GB nexus 10… Finally went through after refreshing my cart several times, then hitting proceed, then getting error message. Rinse and repeat until finally got it.

Get confirmation email, followed by, “order on hold” email cause my Amex flagged it as a possible fraudulent charge!!! What?! So fixed that, went back in, refreshed payment options, and it went through. Phew. What a hassle.

I somehow just ordered 2 16GB Nexus 4. Got 1 confirmation, assuming the other will arrive shortly. What a cluster of a mess…..I wasn’t sure if I ordered 0 or 5 of them.

Google just showed that it can turn a simple thing into a clusterpuck for no good reason. We find out an official time late last night, and then they can’t even stick with it. No, they start early. Then, they also have a website that for some reason can’t not constantly have errors.

A normal company wold announce time for preorders in advance, then simply fill the customers orders in that order with an ETA. It doesn’t currently even say sold out, it just says coming soon. What does that even mean?

Shame on Google. Shame! Google Wallet has popped up and sat empty on my computer for over an hour now, despite repeated refreshes. For such a so-called forward-thinking company, this was one of the most brain-dead methods of product distribution I have ever experienced, and I’m a retired person who’s been around a long time.

Why choose *one* source of distribution, when anyone could see that millions of people would be trying to access that source at the same time? Nexus 7 rollout a couple of months ago, on the other hand, was distributed the usual way, and these problems did not exist.

Secondly, having decided to go forward with this brain-dead method of distribution, it is inexcusable that they were not prepared for the response. People like me have a hung wallet and are afraid to close it. Others have been charged for 2 devices. Yet some others have gone through an hour process, only to have their order cancelled (which I suspect is what’s going to happen to me).

This company has a history of mistreating their customers. (Don’t believe me? Try to get help when you have a problem with one of their products. You can’t even get access to an email address.) And this is truly sad. I’ve been a big supporter of Android in the past, I own a Nexus 7 and a Galaxy Nexus but this experience leaves me truly cold. I’m not ready to abandon Android yet for the “evil empire” but I’m somewhat closer to that decision than what I was yesterday.

  I’ve contacted Google support on various occasions and they’ve been quite helpful and responsive. Haven’t you heard of the new Nexus phone lines? You can call in and speak directly to a Google representative in the U.S.
  
  Also, Nexus devices have always been niche products. They obviously underestimated how many people actually love the things, especially with the incredible hardware inside the Nexus 4 and 10. This is an entirely new paradigm from what Google is used to – it’ll take time for them to adapt. I sa give them a chance! You’re one step closer to going Apple because of a single (moderately) botched release? A bit rash, in my opinion. Anyway, Nexus forever! :-)

Just got a 16GB at 1:22 EST. I think they are doling out a few every few minutes so the servers can handle the transactions without crashing. Keep refreshing and if you see that it’s in stock HIT THE BUTTON IMMEDIATELY. If you wait for the whole page to finish loading they will be gone already.

  That phone number does appear, buried in device support. I did call. They couldn’t help me – told me the tablet was sold out.
  
  So I gave up hope, closed the hung wallet popup, and tried again. Got a “there’s a problem with the server msg.”
  
  Gave it one last shot (not expecting much) by completely closing down the site and re-starting my order. Guess what? I got it.
  
  How stupid is that? Everyone here says the 32gb tablet was sold out. The help desk rep said it was sold out… and I manage to get it. I should be happy I guess but I’m not really. I’m of an age where I don’t appreciate being put through these hoops to make a simple purchase.
  
  BTW FWIW The help desk answered right away, which tells me that not a lot of people are aware of that number… which tells me, Colton, that you’ve done quite a good service for everyone by posting that number. :-)

I told my brother (living in the US) to buy me the N4, he tried as soon as they opened and with no luck.

After two hours I urged him to try again and to my amaze…it worked!!!

So keep refreshing and im sure u will manage to get your hands on one.

This was badly handled. Yes the servers may have issues but you don’t run out of stock in less than half an hour. There are many ways to handle this. Have an order queue. Allow the order to complete and notify on possible dates of delivery. A lot of things.
But above all the issue is they could have a good clue of the demand. After all there is a “notify me” option on the site. Probably a big number of people looking to buy the Nexus, used that option. The number of notification subscribers alone should have given them a nice clue of the demand.

I’m very interested to see the sales numbers and hope they are huge.
If not, that would mean this was just publicity stunt. They come out with promises of a cheap phone but they can’t deliver and you have to wait weeks to get one for that price. The only option is to pick the phone at a high price on the traditional market where there are other phones with better features. It ends up being bait..

I hope I’m wrong as I never had any issues with Google and overall have a good image of them.

Wow all the error stories suck so bad! It really shouldn’t be this hard to give a company your $400.I know its only a phone but when we are spending our earned dinero on these things we don’t expect it to include a mind rape. I was lucky and started my order at 11:34 in NYC. It went through like a breeze and i got an email notification within 5 minutes. Even the sun shines on a dogs b*hole sometimes….
