Google’s I/O 2013 website chock full of Easter eggs

8 bit i/o

It’s Thursday. The weekend is almost here. And if you’re anything like me, you could probably use a quick pick-me-up at the end of the work day to ease you into Friday. Luckily, Google has you covered.

Google’s I/O website seems pretty simple. There’s a few links neatly arranged around the borders, and the middle is taken up by an elegant graphic that simply says “I/O 13.” But upon further inspection, you’ll notice there’s more to it. Both the I and the O in the graphic can be clicked, and a small bar near the bottom of the page will pop up containing the sequence of letters you’ve pressed. Depending on what order you press the I and O in, different interactive Easter eggs are unlocked.

By pressing “IIOIIOII,” you can play an interactive synthesizer, complete with three instruments and backup drums. By pressing “IOOOOOOI,” you can play Pong. The list goes on, and on, and on. I won’t spoil anymore, in case you want to find them for yourself. If you just want to see everything you can do, check out the video below. Let us know your favorite in the comments.
