I couldn’t agree more. It’s so easy to make highlight videos that my first one was a pure accident. My One arrived while I was in BC on business and so I had my wife bring it with her when she picked me up from the airport (talk about a long flight, it was almost like having your child born while you’re gone :)). I had her drive home so I could play with my new toy and while testing the camera I took some pics of my daughters in the back seat, and some video of the scenery as we drove down the highway. After a few minutes of gathering content and realized it was putting everything into a new “event” (like an album but complied based on date/time stamp) and had automatically made a highlight reel of our drive home for me. It looked awesome! I’ve since made more intentional highlight reels (where I’ve edited the photos and videos ahead of time and made specific albums for the reel to pull from) of our trip to the dinosaur museum, and the 1 mile race my three year old daughter ran on Saturday. The quality, control, and intuitiveness make this a phenomenal feature for the average to advanced user. My only two complaints so far: 1 – compression when sharing on facebook severely lessens the quality of the videos, 2 – since you are limited to 13 files for to include in the reel, I used the option to “select content” within the album I was creating a reel for, but the final highlight reel kept pulling in pics I hadn’t selected anyway. I ultimately had to make a temporary album to I which I moved all but the 13 files I wanted included in the reel, created and saved the reel, then moved the other files back to their proper album. Hopefully this gets fixed in an update. Otherwise it’s a perfect, simple, and effective feature that anyone will appreciate and use regularly. Hoping for more themes to choose from soon as well.

I agree w/ Vance. Stay Vance, you are not drunk. : ) (I say this now because one time I didn’t agree with you said you were drunk and to go home lol)

      • Vance

        Haha I don’t even remember that…. but I probably was ;)

man I feel like selling my nexus 4 and getting this. Do you think it is worth it?

    • Vance

      In deed I do.

    • Galen20K

I still have my Nexus 4 and I bought the htc One at launch last week and even tho both devices are incredible, the experiences are like night and day. In short yes I still love the Nexus 4, but the htc One in my opinion meets or exceeds the experience on it. Sense 5 is the fastest I’ve ever seen it(have owned 8 past high end htc phones w/ Sense and hated it each time), the build quality is simply incredible(don’t listen to all the OCD Paranoid owners about the tiniest tiniest imperfections that may be there), and just the sound experience is second to none. I do not regret buying this device in the least. So if I really had to pick one, I’d go w/ the htc One.

Comparing the nexus 4 with the HTC One, is like comparing Judge Judy to Megan Fox. The Video Highlights feature is just the tip of the iceberg of what this incredible phone has to offer. I’ve never owned a HTC product before, but I’m loving my Developers Edition. HTC gets minus one point for not having a removable battery or a microSD card slot, but it’s got 64GB and recharges in around 2 1/2 hours, so I’ll deal with it. Everything else about this phone is world class.

    Verizon I hate you!!!!!

    • swauger

      My thoughts exactly!

  • RRR

Samsung makes great phone and the phablet, LG make the good phone and the phablet, why HTC is missing the boat? The 5.5″ HTC One Pro phablet with 3500mAh removable and the microSD would address absolutely all concerns most of users have.

    • Vance

Not for this user. Assuming all users want a 5.5 phone slab plastered to their face is a gigantic over simplification of the mobile consumer market.

      • RRR

Where did i say ALL users?

        • Vance

My mistake, I read “address all concerns” to mean that’s all anybody needs, which is, of course, absurd.

    • jamal adam

I assume it’s probably because HTC wants to focus on the One as their flagship device of 2013 and creating a phablet just because others are making them wouldn’t do much good and would be just another distraction. I think that sticking to one flagship for the year is what they need and so far it’s looking great.

The highlight reels look amazing, I really want to try this feature out myself.

  • Vance

I don’t want to steal the thunder from your upcoming review, Taylor, but another feature that blew my mind was the TV app which uses the IR sensor to control you TV and peripherals. I opened the app and in literally 8 seconds my Samsung LED and Dish Network box were synced and fully functional. In another 5 minutes I had my channel lineup loaded and favorite shows identified. Now I get a notification when one of my favorite shows is on and I can tap it, turn on the TV and automatically tune to the program. Holy crap HTC is doing it right!

  • GenTrevNL

Are you ever going to announce the winners of the HTC one giveaway or was it just a lie?

    • http://androidandme.com Taylor Wimberly

Of course we will announce the winner when this series of posts is over. We have given away hundreds of devices to our users over the years.

      • Vance

Nothing better than non-contributors who just want free shit..

        • GenTrevNL

No need to cuss i just didn’t know, sorry.

        • GenTrevNL

And i could care less who wins, I just wanted to know if some one would.

          • GenTrevNL

            *If I

  • DSaif

Can anyone port it to other devices? :P

  • RRR

By the way, what means SPONSORED at the top ? Is this like sort of paid advertisement ? If yes, i appreciate you are the one and the only who say that openly

  • cwjones4

these look awesome, wow. wevideo is the best video/photo editor i’ve found so far, but this blows it out of the water (especially since it’s all done for you). really hoping there’s someway HTC releases this app into the play store – i’d pay good money for it

    wevideo link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wevideo.mobile.android&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS53ZXZpZGVvLm1vYmlsZS5hbmRyb2lkIl0.

  • donger

This and the build quality makes HTC better than Samsucks.

  • cb2000a

Four megapixels is a perfect size for video. Canon explains this on my new camcorder. It does great in low light and more pixels are not needed for HD video. I keep reading awesome reviews for this phone…will have to check it out.

  • Jorge Vieira

yes this feature is great and it is one of the high points in the HTC One. Everyone I show it too loves it. But im digging this S4 at the moment photo album almost caputers the same but not as much wow and as zoe and the highlights are. These two phones are awsome. idk withc one I like better.at this moment to me the one is slightly on top.

  • Fifth313ment

Lol, Little “Richard”son is a cutey for sure! The video actually looks like a commercial for a baby product, lol. What do you think of the HTC One and still shots? A lot of people say it’s not as good as the SGS4?
