HTC One coming to Verizon this summer

htc-one-black

It may be a tad late; but, for those of you who’ve been waiting to see if Verizon would carry the real HTC One (not just the precursor Droid DNA), we have some great news.

Announced on the official Verizon Wireless news Twitter account, the HTC One, complete with 4G LTE, will be coming to Verizon this summer. Details on the Verizon variant of the HTC One, like when it will ship or if there will be any major changes made, are scarce at the moment. Still, this is great news for anyone on Verizon who has been dying to get their hands on HTC’s latest flagship device.

The HTC One will finally bring Verizon’s device lineup back up to par with the rest of big carriers in the US, giving customers a choice of any of the hottest Android phones available right now, including the Note II and Galaxy S4. Congratulations, Verizon customers. Now who’s buying one?

They’re about 1.5 weeks late, I already went out and bought the One off contract and am now on Net 10. So far so good.

Probably would have stuck around but I do enjoy the fact of saving about $30/month now. More upfront cost for the phone but pays off in the long run

Good to see those on Verizon will finally get to get this device. Wish it would have came sooner but better late than never I guess.

  • Mustin

FINALLY. Very interested in this, but will have to figure out how to get around the fact that I got a DNA three months ago. Hmm… anyone had any experience with such a thing?

    • redraider133

Sell the DNA, get some of the cost back and then buy the one full price.

    • Michael S Coleman

You can always get another line? If you’ve had the phone for less than 30 days you may be able to trade it back in?

  • romy134

too bad they could not get this deal done at launch

  • Alan Reboli

It is too bad that they couldn’t get this done sooner. However I just picked mine up (T-Mobile) and this phone is totally worth the wait.

I’m torn. I have a Galaxy S3. Wasn’t too thrilled with the S4. Sure it’s great, but… I really think it’s those speakers on the One that I’m really wanting. And the build. But I think I might still sit this one out and wait for that one phone that I must have. I’m thinking either Note 3 (if it’s metal for sure) or Nexus 5 if it’s good enough for me to leave Verizon’s unlimited data tit.

    • Nate B.

I doubt the Note III will be metal. I’m sure the design was already set in stone and will share the same design scheme as the S4. Next time around (S5 and on) they will have something different.

      • thekaz

*sigh* stop crushing my dreams, Nate…

      • http://www.infotainmentempire.com pekosROB

So in other words, get the One? :-)

S4 design is… the S3 with different dimensions. And if the Note 3 is 6+ inches, not sure if I want that phone. I never use the stylus with my wife’s Note 2 and I don’t think she uses it either.

Does the One have a bright ass screen? Compared to the S3, on full brightness, how much brighter is the One?

The speakers are amazing. They really fill the room with quality sound. You will not be disappointed.

  • lou2cool88

This is great! Hope it comes in that red version we keep seeing.

  • thekaz

I will most likely be getting one… as much as I love my Galaxy Nexus. I will likely buy off contract so as to keep my unlimited data, so I am hoping there is a Nexus Experience one available for Verizon.

    • Nate B.

Only GSM will have that Nexus Experience. Either root or…buy a Nexus.

(ack! replied to the wrong post above.. sorry!)

Either way, the same phone having versions with stock android will make aosp stuff easier/better for the verizon one in ROMS. It’s a good thing.

  • alexanderharri3

Why they wait so long is a head scratcher unless they’re deadpanned on customizing software and hardware since the One initially seemed to be rushed straight from completion to launch. HTC and Verizon lost out by making this available AFTER the stock One from the Play store and also denying its existence ever since the One launched elsewhere. Strange timing of the minor announcement with the typical 3 month window.

    Always good to have options

  • Tico4674

If by the time it gets released on Verizon there’s still no word on the Xfone, I’ll probably get it. The S3 has served me admirably and I really haven’t felt the need to upgrade.

  • snowbdr89

I swapped my one for the s4 granted I think the one is way smoother then the s4 but I had issues with the home n back button so hopefully they fix that issue other then that it was an awesome phone an the new sense isn’t that bad!!

    Late to the party, Verizon.

Here’s to hoping they up the battery capacity to make the phone perfect in my mind.

It wont be to late, if it was held back for the same reason as the S4 and will be AWS LTE network compatible! if so, its worth the wait! Can not wait until it goes live in my area.

I want one, it seems to be the clear winner over the S4. However, i’m going to wait long enough to see what the Moto X on Verizon is truly going to be like.

    • MyCah

I wouldn’t say that it’s the clear winner. The S4 has a lot going for it.

I really wanted the One but ended up buying the S4 because I had no idea when it would come out. I am very happy with my choice, especially now that I realize how important the SD card is.

Too late HTC! moto X is on the horizon! I’ve waited this long, might as well wait for an AMERICAN built phone! The creepy Senors have me intrigued.

3 days since the last AAM posting! What’s going on?

  • breckdroid

As stated by some earlier folks, it is a bit too late. Do not get me wrong, its a great device, but its novelty has waned a bit since it first arrived. It still baffles me why VZW did not get it from day one. From a purely business perspective that made no sense. The DNA while good is not really comparable.

VZW people might as well at least hold off to see what the Moto X device is all about and then compare it with the S4 and the One.

This is pretty good news for me at least. I’m on Verizon and have been considering getting an HTC One. If the next Nexus does not “wow” me, then I’ll probably pick this up as an upgrade since I’ll be due for one in September. Not sure though if I’ll be able to give up stock Android though, so we’ll see.
