Nexus 7 leaks list Android 4.3, wireless charging, camera details, July 31 retail launch

With less than a week to go before the new Nexus 7 is expected to be unveiled, a newly leaked document gives us some additional insight into the device’s specs. The document lists the Nexus 7 as having a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 7-inch display, 1.2MP front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera, wireless charging and a slim port for 1080p video output all running on Android 4.3. A second source has also shared that the Nexus 7 will arrive at Staples stores on July 24, but ¬†they will not go on sale until July 31.

Thanks to the new details, leaked price and device images, we may already know everything there is to know about the new Nexus 7. The only detail missing at this point is the resolution of the 7-inch display. Google may have a few surprises for us, but we doubt they will reveal anything earth shattering.

Based on what we know so far, will you be handing over your hard earned cash for the new Nexus 7 at the end of this month?

YES! This Nexus will be getting all my coins.

I would, but the current 16gb wifi one I’ve got is doing the job just fine. The rear camera would be nice, as would video out. I love the 7″ tablet but I seem to use my phone and small laptop a lot more.

This thing must have a lot of horsepower if they’re selling it at stables.

Yes I will dropping my hard-earned money on this.

Still looks a little chunky, but if half of the specs being reported are true, it’ll be worth it!

Honest question though, while 1080p would be awesome, would it still be okay at 720p? I think the latter would still be acceptable, but a 1080p tablet at 7″ would be mind-boggling!

And as luck would have it, my company is offering a subsidy on tablets. I think I’ll put that towards this!

It most likely will be getting my money though I will be slightly disappointed if it has an S4 proc and not one of the newer snapdragons. But that’s only slightly… I’ve been waiting for this for to long to let that stand in the way.

I think that the S4 Pro is still an awesome chip, even though it is a year older. Yes, the GPU will be older, but my Nexus 4 is no slouch. I don’t even think that the apps really touch most of what the GPU can put out yet, but I think that 2014 will change that.

I think that Google knows they have a winner after the release of the original Nexus 7, so I feel it is a safe bet that the resolution will be sufficient. the iPad Mini is due out as well, and I feel that Google knows that the need to compete head to head.

Nice! They fixed the two feature issues I had: No back camera, no HDMI output. Thanks to the new camera and slim port that is fixed.

I hope I can still attach a USB drive w/o rooting the Nexus 7 using Nexus media importer app. Nexus 4 is not capable :(.

  • donger

Looks like a sweet tablet already.

  • Shawn Clark

Looks like the Nexus line getting better and better

  • renz

so 1.5Ghz quad core. that’s sounds like S4 pro. i know many expecting to see Snapdragon 600 here but logically i can’t see how google can fit in such powerful chip inside their N7 tablet while asking very cheap for it

  • Joselyn

The only thing that I don’t understand. Why don’t they include A sim card slot?

    • Victor

Maybe they will offer a 3G version again.

  • Randy White

I will be buying this one, first tablet purchase

  • Noel

Yes i will be getting the new N7…the first N7 still doing a gr8 job, but for the price i want a 32GB GSM/WiFi version.
