Verizon to launch blue HTC One?

htc-one-blue

Following yesterday’s news that the Verizon HTC One may not launch until the middle of August, today we’ve learned that the device may be available in a new color to make up for the fact that the phone has been available on other carriers for more than three months.

According to an unnamed source, an update to Verizon’s inventory system in now listing a new SKU: “HTC6500LVWBLU - HTC One in Blue.” With the Red HTC One expected to make its way to Sprint stores on August 16, it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if Verizon launched a blue HTC One in an effort to give its customers something unique. Rumors of a blue HTC One have been floating around since mid-May, but it’s somewhat surprising that Verizon would choose blue over red.

If you had the option to buy the HTC One in silver, black, red or blue, which color would you choose?

We created the above image to show how the blue HTC One may look.

Why do they do this?! It really frustrates me. Give all color options out of the gate for once.

Like the Moto X will exclusively have color options for AT&T which sucks. It’s one of the unique things about the phone. Why would you pin that on one carrier.?!

HTC did not release all the color variants at the same time because they had camera component shortages which limited the number of devices they were able to push out at launch. It’s the same reason the black Pebble was the only color to ship for the first few months. HTC and other smartphone makers need to prioritize manufacturing based on what they expect demand to be. While the black and red HTC One look great, most people who have had the choice to choose their color have gone with silver.

Personally, I’ve love to see the HTC One in a rainbow of different colors, but HTC needs to make sure they manage things appropriately to make sure they can maximize their manufacturing capacity and meet consumer demand.

The last sentence in the article says ‘We created the above image to show how the blue HTC One may look.’ So we will have to wait and see what the actual blue looks like.

I created a rainbow of HTC One colors after working on the blue one. Orange and aqua look really nice.
