Nexus 5 camera improved thanks to developer software mods

Nexus 5 White

It’s old news that Nexus devices have had less than amazing cameras. The Nexus 5 is a bit of a departure from that, with a camera that can actually take some nice shots in good conditions. It isn’t bad by any means, but it isn’t up to par with other phones like the HTC One and the Galaxy Note 3.

But leave it to developers to improve every part of this phone that they can. Already, a developer on XDA is offering a flashable package that is said to improve the camera on the Nexus 5. The image quality has been maxed out, color reproduction has been modified, video and audio bitrates have been raised, compression has been lowered, and things like edge enhancement have been added.

If you’d like to check out these mods, keep in mind that you have to be rooted and willing to modify your phone. Considering you own a Nexus device, chances are that you’re down for that. Hit the source link and download the zip that’s right for you, then flash it in recovery. If you want to go back to the original camera, a zip for that is provided. Flash this mod and tell us if there is an improvement!
