The Samsung SM-W2014 flip phone features dual WVGA displays, a Snapdragon 800

Samsung SM-W2014

In the weirdest combination of old and new tech, Samsung has unveiled the SM-W2014. It’s an old school flip phone powered by Android. It features two 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED displays, something we saw three years ago, paired with the fastest processor on the market, the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800. It has 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera, 32GB of storage, Android 4.3 out of the box, and strangely enough, a wimpy 1,900 mAh battery. There is nothing about this phone that isn’t confusing.

The device will be exclusive to China Telecom, where it will cost CN„10,000, or a little over $1,600. Yes, the phone costs an incredible amount of money for a mix of high end and low end specs. We don’t quite get it either.

It’s very doubtful that the phone will ever leave South Korea and China, so you won’t be able to buy one for yourself without importing. If you’re into that kind of stuff. But we can only imagine how fast this thing will be with a Snapdragon 800 pushing a small WVGA resolution. We can’t say we love it, but it sure is interesting.

my co-worker’s aunt makes $70 hourly on the internet. She has been fired for 6 months but last month her paycheck was $19150 just working on the internet for a few hours. Discover More…….

Oh, I don’t think its so weird. I really like it. The color (metallic chocolate??) is beautiful. The form factor ought to appeal to anyone that loves (loved) the flip phone design (like me). I think it would make a very classy and classic statement at up-scale dinner parties. Like my Skagen analog watch, I would definitely take this when I dressed up for a nice night on the town.

But would you pay $1600 for it?

      • Bart

OH! Dang, I didn’t pay attn to that “little” detail. Umm… no.

Samsung has gone nuts! Charging folks $1600 for a flip-phone?

    • Silver

To be honest, flip-phones are fine. The main issue here is… $1600?! Now that’s absurd.

You could get a whole package that includes a Nexus 5, Nexus 7, a Chromebook, Chromecast, and even a TV and still have money left over.
