I was first introduced to Android with the Samsung Fascinate and I've been hooked ever since. I love the customization that Android offers the user to personalize their phone. I enjoy writing and have been blessed with the opportunity to share this passion for Android with others.

Motorola Active Display is only for Moto devices I think? Even I tried to download from playstore and couldnt find it for my Nexus 4

Motorola active display is compactable olny for Android 4.4. Wait until u get android 4.4 officially from your phone manufacturer.

      • kumar

Wait… We people having S 3 wont get 4.4 kitkat……. we even dont have atleast 4.3. It will take many years to get 4.4…. :(

If you want something similar to active display, I’d recommend trying an app called dynamic notifications from the playstore or XDA forums.

I’ve read that it’s tied in with the specific processor in use on the compatible Motorola phones, so an apk won’t do you any good; it won’t work.

Respectfully, Motorola Active Display shouldn’t be on a list like this.

That app is reserved for Motorola devices with special chipsets and will not work properly, if at all, on anything else.

It’s only in the Play store so that Motorola can update it to their devices without going through the carrier.

More and more I’m thinking apps are a nuisance with downloading and updating, and the new thing is going to be browser-accessible web pages formatted for the small screen. Google seems to be like-minded. I’d really like a column that points out excellent mobile-optimal web pages that display and work right in a good browser.
