AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II getting its Android 4.3 update

samsung-galaxy-note-ii (9)

Which Samsung device will be the next to receive its Android 4.3 and Premium Suite combo update? Why, it’s the AT&T Galaxy Note II! Samsung has revealed that the AT&T-flavored Note II is slated to begin receiving its update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean today, complete with support for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch and updates to the Note II’s Multi-Window, Camera and Easy Mode features. Here’s the full list of changes, courtesy of Sammy:

Software update includes:

  • Android 4.3 OS upgrade
  • Samsung Galaxy Gear compatibility
  • Premium Suite Features
  • PEN.UP
  • Group Play 2.5
  • Multi-Window (Note 3 Version)
  • Camera — Shot & Sound
  • Group Messaging
  • Samsung Link (Preload)
  • New Easy Mode
  • Samsung Apps
  • Knox

The update also bumps the AT&T Galaxy Note II up to software build number JSS15J.I317UCUBMK6. Samsung says that the AT&T Note II folk should start seeing the update hit their oversized handsets today, Dec. 17, so you may want to head into Menu > Settings > About device > Software update > Check for update to see if there’s anything waiting for you. With goodies like Android 4.3 and updated Multi-Window and Camera apps, I’d say that the effort of manually checking for the update is worth it, wouldn’t you?

Don’t do it. The 4.3 upgrade has caused so many problems. Notifications are every two minutes about things that happened months ago. The flash goes off randomly. I’m going to stop. Samsung programmers should be fired and their names posted so no one else ever hires them.

      Sorry to hear that.

I took the plunge however I did do a factory reset recently and I am not showing any issues at this time. I know it is the dreaded factory reset you maybe need to do.

Sorry you guys are having issues. I got the 4.3 update yesterday and i really like the improvements. You have to realize that there are quite a few variants of even the same phone, ie the GN2: i317, n7100, n7105, etc. There are slight differences in the hardware…take into account the lesson you learned in prob and statics class back in college and you will recall that in order to have statically relevant information, there must be something like 1100 samples taken. That would require testing on 1100 devices with the exact same hardware before KNOWING that there wont be issues. I’m just happy they update my software for free rather than making us buy new devices. Did you root your device? There are so many issues that can arise from unlocking bootloaders and flashing radios. Maybe CB, instead of writing comments like this, you should be writing bulletproof code for the GN2 so no one has issues?

I got freeze and slow app. The screen will not respond when I plug in for charge.

I’ve had a ton of our problems since I updated. The phone keeps freezing. Apps keep freezing. None of my contact pics synced, which is a bigger frustration than it sounds… :(

I updated my phone and about 4 hours later my memory card that I had for over 3 years was fried. I lost all of my pictures. My phone lights up on its own and the battery drains faster because of it. I really don’t notice anything different.

Screen freeze and unresponsive happen too often. Is take longer to charge but last longer too.

after I updated the only issue that I have found is that when I’m looking at a picture in gallery when I click Share. It instantly closes and then States sorry gallery has closed. anybody have this issue and know how to fix it? I have already cleared cache and cleared app data and restarted my phone

  • Junguk

A couple of issues after updating to 4.3.
    1. Swype keyboard doesn’t add new word to dictionary. Resetting and clearing the cache didn’t solve the issue.
    2.wifi got unstable.

Would rather go back to the previous version with less features but more stable system.

Hi… i have updated my note 2 to 4.3 android. After updating however, I noticed that my phone started lighting up by itself. I don’t know how often this has been happening, but whenever I lock my phone and put it down, the screen lights up out of nowhere. It’s sort of random, the screen could light up and off for minutes at a time, then stop for ten minutes, then start up again. Throughout the day, this really starts to drain the battery. Please let me know the solution.

I updated to the 4.3 last night…unfortunately it seems that I have the same complaints as a lot of you. However; one of my biggest is that I never got the Knox app with my upgrade…it did however not fail to fry my sd card…anyone else have the problem with the Knox app?

My partner has just updated his note 2 and now its unusable. It freezes soon after its turned on and then you have no choice but to take the battery out and start again. So far we have managed to get it to work for about 30 seconds before freezing.

is there any option other than a factory re-set?

  • clh

    Update-
Wiped the cache partition from the recovery menu which you get to by holding power+volume up+home buttons simultaneously- use volume buttons to scroll and power to select

Seems to have fixed the problem.

A few months ago there was an update. That resulted in my wifi not recognizing my home wireless. I always have to remember to sign in to my home network.

Now a few weeks ago another BIG update came through. Screen freezes, slow to respond, text messages come through multiple times, battery drains for no reason. Sometimes battery doesn’t charge, then it charges quickly. Things open that you didn’t select.

While the new features are nice… it messed up my phone. I went in to the ATT store and they told me I needed to upgrade. Was this latest upgrade a gimmick to get me to buy a new phone?
