The HTC M8 has yet to make its way through the FCC, but a new listing in POSTEL’s database (Indonesia’s equivalent of the FCC) may indicate that the device is being tested by multiple communication certification agencies around the globe. Labeled as the HTC M8x, the phone’s status is listed as “Test Center” with a date of January 13 - suggesting the handset is currently undergoing certification testing.
The database also lists the HTC D310w – a device that hasn’t been on our radar. The lettering and number scheme suggest that the HTC D310w is a variant of the HTC Desire 300, which launched in Europe and Asia in the fall of 2013.
The POSTEL database does not have any other HTC M8x details listed, but rumors claim the HTC M8 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 5-inch 1080p display, 2,900 mAh battery, fingerprint scanner and a dual-sensor camera for improved image clarity and low-light performance. We have yet to see any leaks of the Android 4.4 with HTC Sense 6 software that will power the HTC M8, but we suspect a leak or two will give us a peek at HTC’s software before the handset is unveiled.
What surprises do you think HTC still has in store for us with the HTC M8?
