LG G2 comparison video pits KitKat-powered unit against Jelly Bean device

There’s been an awful lot of talk lately concerning Android 4.4 updates for the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4, but today the focus is falling on KitKat for another 2013 Android flagship.

LG U.K. today posted a video to YouTube to tease the Android 4.4 update for the G2. The near 3-minute clip features to G2 units, one running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and another with Android 4.4 KitKat, and compares the speed of the two phones as they perform various tasks. The KitKat-powered G2 bested its Jelly Bean counterpart in all of the tests, including waking from sleep with KnockOn 9ms quicker and capturing a photo 21ms faster.

LG says that the G2′s update to KitKat will bring with it a number of goodies. Those include improved music playback, a battery-saving location mode and general performance improvements. Once a user’s G2 has been updated to Android 4.4, LG says that he or she will see a “noticeable speed boost” that enables the device to load apps up to 17 percent faster.

So when can you and your G2 break off a piece of Google’s Android-shaped KitKat bar? LG U.K. says that the update will begin rolling out in mid-March, but there’s no word yet on when other regions will start to see the update. Judging by the performance improvements that LG shows off in this new video, though, the wait for the G2′s Android 4.4 update will be worth it.

I got my G2 from T-Mobile about a month ago and I love it. When I first turned it on the Kit Kat 4.4.2 upgrade was ready to install. I was shocked since I have not heard about the G2 being upgraded. It is the best phone that I have had. I got the Nexus 5 and returned it after 2 weeks. I got the Xperia Z1s and returned it after a week then I got my G2 :-)

It’s funny the mention better music playback, ever since I moved to 4.3 with cm10.2 on my note2, I have issues with sound, namely earphone sound goes dead when moving from app to app. So I have to unplug/plug to regain sound.

Notice how they use Chrome for the browser test instead of the stock browser app!

Just got notice today for my G2 update to 4.2.2 via AT&T. Two software updates downloaded. Everything is smoother and faster. Set up my local home printer to Cloud print via settings in Chrome internet browser on my home PC. Now can print from my G2 to local PC connected printer. It’s fast and slick, but would not work with Polaris Office 5, but did work with OfficeSuite pro and Adobe Reader.
