OnePlus One camera tested against Oppo Find 5, Nikon D3100 DSLR

oneplusneversettleaam

The OnePlus One is starting to get some serious attention. With the latest leaked images of the device (and I must say, it looks good), there’s little that we don’t know about the device hardware. However, the camera is always the weakest point with more budget-oriented devices. We’ve seen some camera samples before, but this takes it to the next level.

Someone has created a full comparison of the OnePlus One camera, pitting it against an Oppo Find 5 and a Nikon D3100 DSLR. The D3100 may be entry level, but it still shoots some great stills. In the comparison, we can see that the OnePlus One camera is not only better than the Find 5, but pretty comparable to the DSLR. With great low light abilities, depth of field and detail, I would say that the OnePlus One camera is fantastic.

There was also a video sample of the 4K video that the One can shoot. It looks great, as well. Check out some of my favorite shots and the rest of the comparison in the source links below, and tell us what you think!

Those indoor shots look really good. I don’t know how accurate the color detail is for the 3100 but if it is accurate to what the photo should look like it seems like the 1+1 is making the photos’ exaggerated on color. But damn dat indoor/lowlight do.

There is a bit saturation in the color for the OnePlusOne. Nothing to complain about though. Just pointing it out. They all look great to me. Video looks awesome, but it’s a really nice day, sun, and still. I have a feeling it’ll be a solid camera all around. I’ve messed with a number of cameras to make a sweet judgement in my opinion. Great to excellent camera is a must for me on phones nowadays. I’m curious to see what they have changed software wise.

Moto and HTC take notes on how to make a good camera.

Since 2 have already noted the over-saturation, I’ll note the color trueness/accuracy. Obviously I don’t know what the actual objects look like, but based on the all pics as a set, I’d say the accuracy is very good. That its over-saturated is a good thing (for me). You can always knock that down in post process. Having been a digital photographer for years now (Canon 7D, currently), I never settle for sharing “straight-out-of-the-camera” shots. They are usually under-saturated, so this is actually a nice change.

Awsome, phone if the year!. I am so impressed with this phone, makes me glad I didn’t jump on the s5 or m8.

I wonder if D3100 photos are a little bit overexposed. One+one needs to lower the saturation though. I hope that it can be adjusted by the user.

Why did they use last years model (Find 5) to test against? Scared you wouldn’t out shine the Find 7????? 😉

Wow, pretty good pics! I broke down and bought the Sony QX-100 so my days of worry about my cell phone camera should be eliminated for all intents and purposes. The OnePlus One isn’t coming to Korea anyway unfortunately ….

seriously, posting a very bad comparison article from gsmarena isn’t really fantastic! if that guy is calling himself a “photographer”, then i’m a pro! those Nikon D3100 pics are simply ridiculous – blurred is just one of the issues. And then comparing them? Wow, that’s the level of pro blogging today… better go out and take some serious pictures instead of reading this crap

How is it possible to compare with the Nikon D3100 and select a person who absolutely can not shoot. Taking pictures with the wrong white balance and shutter speed errors etc etc and then compares with other images taken with other settings?? Is this test buy?
