swiftkeyupdate

If SwiftKey is your third-party keyboard of choice, you may want to head into Google Play and check for updates. Go ahead, I’ll wait right here until you’re back.

Yep, that’s a SwiftKey update that you just found. The update bumps SwiftKey up to version 5.0.2.4 and includes quite a few performance improvements. The full list looks like this:

  • Improved typing performance
  • Improved some translations
  • Improved keyboard loading time
  • Improved Flow performance
  • Fix for the bottom row being hidden in some devices
  • Fixed Yahoo! personalization
  • Fixed background disappearing issue in some themes
  • Fixed some other force closes and crashes

In addition to those tweaks, SwiftKey is adding support for Kyrgyz, Tajik and Turkmen languages. There’s also now emoji prediction support for Arabic, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, Polish and Russian.

The SwiftKey Store is also benefitting from today’s update by getting some new themes. The five new themes that are now available are Spotlight Purple, Edge Green, Pulse Yellow, Pulse Pink and Hazy Pink.

The final bit of news from today’s update is a theme sale. SwiftKey is discounting its themes by 33 percent in several countries, including the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, Russia, Denmark, and Sweden.

SwiftKey pushed out a significant update a little over a month ago that made it into a free app and added a theme store. Now SwiftKey says that since then, it’s been focusing on improving the performance of its keyboard, which is definitely exciting news for anyone that uses SwiftKey to compose messages on their Android phone or tablet.

You can snag SwiftKey from the Play Store using the widget below. Once you update, be sure to give us your first impressions of the new version!
