HTC raises Google Drive storage offer to 100GB for some models

htc-one-max-review (1)

With recent HTC device purchases, you were given some free Google Drive storage for two years as a promotion. For the HTC One (M8) and the One Max, it was 50GB of online storage space. But it looks like HTC decided to be generous for absolutely no reason and bump that storage up to 100GB, with the same offer extending to the new HTC One Remix.

If you want to take advantage of this offer, open the Google Drive app, hit Redeem, and follow the on screen prompts. Then you’ll get an extra 50GB of online storage, which is nothing to scoff at. Sadly, if you have unlocked your bootloader, you cannot redeem this offer.

We’re not sure why HTC decided to bump the existing offer to double the storage, but we can’t complain. If you own a mentioned HTC device, go redeem the extra storage and enjoy!

I got an HTC One Max – which is fantastic – a little over a month ago. I unlocked the boot loader for root access two weeks ago but still received the upgrade to 100 gigs.

Did you redeem the 50GB offer first, then unlock bootloader? Because if so, I think getting the upgrade to 100GB is still possible.

Yep, first the 50Gb. Although I’d say that one of the only ways you could miss the 50Gb would be if you were to root just after unboxing.

I have the m7 and im not getting the redeem offer is my phone not compatible with the free upgrade?

    • Dima Aryeh

Sorry, but nope. Only M8, Remix, and Max.

I got a M8 with drive showing 115GB and I’m only using 2% of it, which is pretty much the auto backup of pictures. Yeah, I got nothing to move to the cloud. I’m curious, what is everyone else backing up to drive?

I have a large collection of public photos that I use for car forums. I have two cars and two build threads of my progress on the cars, and all of my photos are hosted on my 50GB promotion of Dropbox. When that runs out, I guess I’ll move to Google Drive.

I redeemed 50gb with the m8, not getting any way to redeem another 50gb today.

I’m currently at almost 300gb gdrive space, current only using 15% and that’s with photos from 2005 backed up to picasa, and my hp11 using it as a C drive/download folder.

I do pay for the old 20gb per year for $5 a year plan, which was a great deal until not long ago. Lol.
will have to remember to cancel it before October.

Update- just received an email from the Google drive team informing me my 50gb htc offer has been increase to 100gb offer, for the remaining period.

So this looks as if all (UK at least) m8 owners should get this, not just the new.
