To date, LG has released two Android Wear smartwatches since mid-2014. Now it’s got a third for us to check out.
The LG Watch Urbane is LG’s newest Android Wear smartwatch. It bears quite a few similarities to the LG G Watch R, but one big difference is that the LG Watch Urbane’s bezel is a bit narrower. The body of the LG Watch Urbane is made of stainless steel, and to add to the “luxury” feel of the watch, LG is throwing in a natural leather strap. If you’d like, though, you can swap that strap out for any 22mm wide band.
In addition to featuring a round face just like the LG G Watch R, the LG Watch Urbane has many of the same specs as its predecessor. The LG Watch Urbane’s got a 1.3-inch P-OLED 320×320 display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 410mAh battery. Its body is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance and has nine sensors, including an accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and barometer.
LG says that it’ll announce the pricing and launch info for its newest Android Wear hardware closer to its availability.
Overall the LG Watch Urbane looks like a nice upgrade from the LG G Watch R. While it’s got mostly the same spec sheet, LG has addressed what’s likely the most common complaint about the G Watch R — its bezel — and made it a bit classier in the process. Now we just have to wait and see what kind of price LG asks for its “luxury” smartwatch.
