Motorola is known for being pretty quick with its Android OS updates lately, and it looks like that’s going to continue with Android 5.1.
The Android 5.1 changelog for the Moto X (2nd Gen.) has been posted to Motorola’s website. These release notes are for the XT1095 version, which is the carrier-free Pure Edition of Motorola’s current flagship. According to the page, the Android 5.1 update will bring usability improvements for notifications and interruptions, improvements to the Android Runtime (ART) that’ll lead to faster app launch times, a bevy of bug fixes, and some other standard Android 5.1 goodies like Device Protection and the ability to change Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth connections from Quick Settings.
Motorola hasn’t made any announcements about when this update will actually begin rolling out to us regular folk, but the fact that Moto’s posted the changelog to its website suggests that the rollout is getting close and may be undergoing soak testing. Here’s to hoping that everything goes well and that the full push begins soon. Until it does, you can find the full Android 5.1 changelog for the Moto X (2nd Gen.) at the link below.
