Motorola’s April Fools’ Day includes fake selfie stick, real Moto X discount

Motorola is celebrating April Fools’ Day with two announcements, one of which is for a fake product and one that’s for a real sale.

The Moto Selfie Stick is a custom, leather stick that’s a bit more premium than the regular ol’ selfie sticks that’ve been gaining popularity lately. Unfortunately for selfie aficionados out there, though, Moto’s fancy selfie stick isn’t a real product.

What is real is Motorola’s offer on the Moto X (2nd Gen.) The big M is knocking $140 off the price of unlocked Moto X (2nd Gen.) units purchased today, April 1, meaning that the starting price of off-contact Xs is $359.99. And if you decide to pick up a discounted Moto X, you can treat yourself to some new accessories for 30 percent off, too.

If you’d like to celebrate April Fools’ Day by treating yourself to a new Moto X (2nd Gen.) — and really, is there a better way to celebrate April 1 by buying a new smartphone? — hit up Motorola’s site and start customizing your phone.
