Throughout the years, we’ve seen plenty of different concept devices, some of which have succeeded and many of which have failed. One of these concept devices is ZTE’s Spro line of smart projectors. While the first iteration never saw much success, the ZTE Spro 2 has fared a bit better, and now it’s getting another channel to customers through T-Mobile.
Beginning today, T-Mobile will offer the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector for $499.99 full retail price, or $0 upfront with 24 monthly payments of $20.84. Plan options range from $20 for 2GB of high-speed data, all the way up to $80 for 18GB of high-speed data.
The Spro 2 can project up to 120 inches at a 720p resolution with 200 lumens of brightness. It also packs in USB and HDMI ports, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth connectivity and 16GB of internal storage, for plenty of options to store and play content. With the ability to download apps directly from the Play Store, it’s easy to utilize streaming services as well. Of course, there’s always the concern about battery life. The ZTE Spro 2 can project for up to 2.5 hours while unplugged.
While a smart projector is a unique concept to begin with, it actually pairs well with T-Mobile’s network and business model. The carrier has placed a heavy emphasis on streaming with its Binge On program, which allows users to stream video through select services without impacting their data allotment, albeit that the video is at a slightly downgraded quality. With the Spro 2, those on the go can stream video for groups of people without having to worry about chewing through their data plan.
Are any of you considering the ZTE Spro 2?
