Google Play turns 5, compiles top 5 lists for music, apps, and more

Google Play is officially five years old! Five years ago today, Google Play was introduced to rebrand and encapsulate the Android Market and its associated services like Google Music. Many of us didn’t like the change at first, but it was definitely a good one.

To celebrate the birthday of Google Play, Google has posted top five lists for apps, games, movies, songs, albums, and books downloaded over the last five years. Here are the lists:

Top installed games:

  1. Candy Crush Saga
  2. Subway Surfers
  3. Temple Run 2
  4. Despicable Me
  5. Clash of Clans

Top installed apps:

  1. Facebook
  2. Facebook Messenger
  3. Pandora Radio
  4. Instagram
  5. Snapchat

Top selling songs:

  3. Taylor Swift – Blank Space
