NVIDIA not updating SHIELD Tablet and SHIELD Tablet K1 to Android Oreo

Android 8.0 Oreo is the next big version of Google’s mobile operating system, but if you have a NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet or SHIELD Tablet K1, you won’t be getting that update.

Manuel Guzman, who works for NVIDIA in the software QA department, responded to a question regarding the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 and Oreo. Guzman’s response is not good news for SHIELD Tablet owners:

While it’s not the best news today, it’s probably not all that surprising. The SHIELD Tablet originally launched back in 2014, and the SHIELD Tablet K1 didn’t see the light of day until 2015. These are both aging devices, which usually take them off the list of the most recent software updates.

Do you own either one of the SHIELD Tablets?
