Do the 32gb Nexus 7s get screen lift issues?

I have had a 16gb one that had it REALLY bad so i bought a 32gb and ive noticed that the left side is raised a tad. Now its definitely not anywhere near as bad as my other one but i dont want it to progress. Also it niether creaks or goes down when pushed on. that’s good i guess? I just need someone to explain alittle on that situation.

I don’t notice anything on mine. I don’t think this issue is dependent on the version (16 GB or 32 GB) as much as just quality control from one unit to another.

The fact that there isn’t any flex is good though, it seems to be stable.

I “believe” that Asus upped the quality control on the Nexus 7′s since the initial release. All the N7′s built around or after the 32gb release seemed to be free of all of the bugs of the OG N7′s. I cycled through 3 Nexus 7′s (largely due to screen lift, squeaky back covers and unbearable screen flickering, respectively). Finally had enough but after playing with a couple of my friends’ N7′s (32gb) they seem to not have any of those problems.

Mine has a bit of a screen lift but nothing major or damaging to the overall experience.

You can try opening the device and changing the glue – look for a solution on google and you will find it.

i ve had the raise ever since i bought it in september ;but thankfully it sailing along nicely…but yeah mine deprersses a little when pushed ..
i read one or two stories about the screen breaking eventually but i think it just stays a little raised thats about it…..with the cover applied i dont even notice anymore :)

I had screen raise/flex on mine and it broke eventually, but was repaired and seems to be free of any of those problems now (was a 16 gb). I suppose that shows the capability to truly fix the problem, if a new screen is used. Hopefully that would mean most/all of the 32 gbs are better in that regard. Certainly seems to be reduced vocal complaints in forums, whether it be better QC or exhaustion from constant complaints for months =)

ive also just noticed the black back covering on the left side is kimd of poking out. is that bad?

  Not clear on what you mean exactly. The black back is easy to click on and off, so if it’s lifted it should snap back into place pretty easy. If it’s poking out sideways….that seems real odd.

Thanks for the posts. I’ve been considering a Nexus 7 and this was after checking out my co-workers new toy. So these are things to keep in mind.

yea i took it off and put it back on ao im good there. the screen is still raised a tad but doesnt flex at all so i guess its ok. im just VERY OCD

I got a nexus 7 christmas day and two days later DAMN Screen lift on left its squeaking too whenever I put a tiny bit of preasure on it and I don’t think its enough to go back to shop and get replacement they will probaly say its meant to do that but im very OCD and its super annoying but I guess I will just have to live with it btw how long is the nexus 7 32GB warranty?

  If your in the UK slandered warrenty is 12 months, bit you can still get a fix under EU law for upto 24 months.
  
  Forgetting warranties,under UK law, “a product has to be fit for purpose” sales od goods act 1989. This means, if it doesn’t works as dis described, a solution should be agreed, (replacement, fix or money back). There is no time limit, on this, so can be very ambiguous.
  
  Rule of thumb is, £200 should work for 12-24months,but say a £2000,settee 5 years eg.
  
  That is simplifying a little, but it’s generally correct.

I haven’t had any screen lift on my launch day nexus 7 16gb although it did creak which isn’t bad just kind of annoying.

So the my first n7 32 gb model had a screen flicker issue and I am in process of getting sent back for a refund. My question is should I buy a new one in January or wait for a while? I absolutely loved the device but was disappointed by the issue. Also if anyone who has had a n7 for long period, could you please tell about your experience

I got a 32GB version last week with screen lift. I will send it back and have asked the Internet shop how to proceed to get a good unit without defects.

How does it come that ASUS still produce tablets with this known issue?

I had the 16GB which was released at the last Google I/O. The problem was a piece of thin black sponge like tape no longer than an inch that caused the screen to be raised on the left side if you’re hold the nexus 7 with the screen facing you. I removed it since i guess it was to absorb shock or something…and that fixed the issue. I honestly don’t know how important that piece of tape is BUT that nexus still works like a charm. Gave it to my mom and it’s still working…

I’m sure that kinda voids the warranty but it works…no creaks or raised screen…functions really great!! I had previously tried tightening supposedly slack screws but that didn’t really help.
