Locket, the lockscreen app that pays to show you ads

Posted Jul 31, 2013 at 3:52 pm in Threads > Apps

Meet Locket, the app that pays you for unlocking your phone.
Locket is free and pays you just for having ads on your lock screen. With one swipe, you can either open the ad or unlock your phone the way you always do. No matter what, you get paid. Real money. Up to hundreds of dollars per year. (Featured on TechCrunch, ABC News, PCMag, Engadget and more.)
So what are you waiting for?
Download Locket and let that be the last time you unlock your phone without getting paid.

This app replaces your lockscreen on your phone, and shows you an ad everytime you unlock your phone. You can swipe left to go the ad, or right to unlock. Either way you get paid!

I thought it was pretty interesting. Earning aren’t that much, but depending how much you use it you could have a couple bucks at the end of the month that you could put towards buying some apps or something! :D

This is interesting. Not sure I would use it that much but maybe will try it out for a month or so see how it turns out.

Yeah I think it is pretty interesting. Earnings aren’t that good, but if you use it enough at the end of the month you might have a couple extra bucks you could use to buy some apps or something :D

ATM they can send money to your Paypal, minimum payout is $10. I believe they are working on other options such as Amazon Gift Cards etc.

i don’t wanna keep spamming this site with all my links, but if anyone wants to hear a first hand experience with this app, we have one on my site…sorry. Thanks.

+1 Nice review! I will probably skip out on this though… for ~$10 a month, I’m not willing to make my expensive phone into a billboard.

Plus think about it. It’s $10. For me, that’s more or less 20 minutes at work.

Another concern would be how much background data the app will be using. It could potentially use 100mb/month, which I would rather have spent browsing things that give me enjoyment.

Eh, food for thought. Interesting post OP!

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. My colleague wrote that and convinced me to give it a try. Since I work underground, i’m out of service often and Locket doesn’t load properly so I miss opportunities to rake in my pennies, lol. When i get to an area where there is service I have to launch the app again. Not sure if i will keep it up.

I’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks and like the concept. I wish it had options to display more (weather, calendar) on the lock screen. The ads are quite nice.

Side note, are we allowed to put referral links in posts? Usually kind of frowned upon.
