What’s Your Favorite Twitter App?

Posted Mar 27, 2012 at 1:06 pm in Threads > Apps & Games

I go back and forth on the best twitter application out there. I need something that supports multiple accounts, and offers multiple, customizable views. I’ve been stuck on Tweakdeck for a while now, but want to hear what you guys are using and why you think I should use what you use.

    Plume and Tweakdeck

    • Stigy

Been using Plume for a few weeks now and I love it – haven’t found one thing wrong with it yet. It even still notifies me of new mentions and DMs like the official Twitter client stopped doing a month ago.

I still use Twicca for my Twitter app, but if you need multi-account support, I would go with Plume.

I’ve been using Tweakdeck for the past few months. It’s been pretty awesome to see some random dude take an almost perfect app and make it more perfect.

We should invite that guy to join here, haha.

PS: For those that don’t know, Tweakdeck is a forked version of the popular Tweetdeck, which was purchased by Twitter and sort of abandoned.

I was a LOOOOONNNNG time user of TweetDeck, even well after I heard it was pretty much abandoned. Left it in favor of Seesmic.

Some random dude? You mean Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo? ;)

      • http://clarklab.net Clark Wimberly

Compared to Twitter proper, yeah, that’s some random dude.

        • http://www.anthonydomanico.com Anthony Domanico

then i guess we’re all some random dude.

          • Chris Chapman

I *am* some random dude. :P

Google+ is your favorite Twitter app?

      • http://www.anthonydomanico.com Anthony Domanico

well, at least he knows what’s what.

Google+ is technically my favorite twitter client too. ;)

        • http://clarklab.net Clark Wimberly

          Well now I’m lost.

Yeah, I’m using Twicca on my Optimus and whatever the flavor of the day is on my Kindle Fire. I love the simplicity of Twicca, and TweakDeck never seemed to get EVERYTHING in my feed.

  • http://htcsource.com Nick Gray

I think I’m the last person on the planet still using Twidroyd. I started using it on my G1 and have never found an application that does exactly what I need. The best part about it is that it actually updates my tweets and gives me notifications, something most apps say they do but seem to fail at on a regular basis.

  • techvudu

Plume without a doubt. A little busy on a tablet but love it on my phone. Tried them all, keep coming back to it.

  • jsweetser2

I am surprised to see no one mention Tweetcaster. I love tweetcaster, after using twidroid, and tweetdeck, tweetcaster is friendly, has LOADS of options, and hasn’t failed me yet.The free version has a small add at the bottom, but otherwise is fully functional.

    • http://about.me/willfanguy AvantGuard

THAT’S what I’ve been using on my Fire. It’s lacks the simplicity I love with Twicca, but tablet apps can have a little more flair.

  • Dustin Earley

Boid looks awesome, but there’s a lot of bugs.

    • orangestrat

Boid is so pretty, when I see the icon, I instinctively want to open it – even if I literally just closed the app!

    • Bryan Stoner

You sir have just replaced my love for the official twitter app.

  • oddball

The only one I have ever used is tweetcaster. I got it from Amazon and it served all my twitter needs perfectly

  • A. Hashad

    Tweetdeck Rules! Period !

  • http://nickvettesephotography.com Nicholas Vettese

Tweetcaster is my favorite Twitter app. I have tried others, but Tweetcaster has a ton of features that make it an awesome app and a great way to enjoy Twitter

  • cola

Twicca was my go to twitter app until I stumbled upon Tweetdeck. Im looking forward to Carbon when it’s released.

  • http://www.infotainmentempire.com pekosROB

Seesmic is my current Twitter client after retiring Tweetdeck not too long ago. Pics load much better than Tweetdeck.

  • jeffb34

I just switched from Twicca to Tweetcaster 2 months ago; so far I love it expect that it seems to freeze on my phone whenever first launching it.

  • Waspdroid

I’m really stuck on TweakDeck because it works great and if any bugs are bound they’r fixed very fast.

  • Celso Miranda

Nothing really catches my eye, so I’ve been using the official twitter app.

I’m waiting out for Carbon and Boid (the last one has a public alpha on the market, but it’s still very… alpha.

  • kazahani

I don’t even know if it supports multiple accounts, but I’ve been loving the heck out of Tweetcaster. Simple, with some great extra features, like custom lists you can subscribe to that follow some of my favorite subjects, like a sports team or a news story.

  • Ipdstnger2

Check out Issimo. Promise you won’t be disappointed! Fast push. Great battery. Even does FB.

  • themetatron

Using plume and love it, especially the betas. Though if I could find a black(gnex gotta love black screens) tweakdeck, I’d switch immediately. And no tweetdark doesn’t cut it.

  • jd092

I used Seesmic until I got a tablet and needed an optimized app. At that point I switched to Tweetcaster and it worked so well on the prime that I started using it on my phone as well. I even started using Friendcaster from the same developer for Facebook.

    • jd092

I am waiting on Issimo though, it is going to be awesome from what I have heard about the private Beta’s.

  • brandon

I am currently using boid. While I’m loving it so far I have noticed quite a few fc issues

  • mo

Plume! Haven’t found another twitter client that allows me to save pics from my timeline!

    • serg74

      twicca with plugin

  • serg74

  • nmccart

I like Tweetdeck a lot. I just wish it supported Google+ in addition to Twitter and Facebook. Find me an app that does all three, and I will be much happier.

  • bolanrox

I am just coming over to the android world. It looks like Plume is going to be my first choice to try out. I went through just about every twitter app i could on my iTouch and the only one i stuck with was Echopone. Plume seems to be the closest to the feel / function.

  • bolanrox

    Another question for the experts:

Are there any apps that can sync up with your browser for Android? EP was great in that (when it worked) anything your read on your broswer (through their plugin / extension) would automatically be marked as read on the app. I doubt it would be included in the free version, but If that is the function of a paid version of an app that is fine with me. :)

I’m boring, I just use the official Twitter app. I don’t have as much time to spend on social media anymore and the official app gets the job decently enough to not go hunt down something else.

    • djembeman

Yep! I don’t understand why anyone needs anything more than the “Twitter for Android” app.

  • Jason Hernandez

Snagged TweetCaster Pro as the FAOTD and have been happy with it so far. Updates are timely – even on Amazon – and it has some really nice features. Official Twitter app is just a memory for me now.

I haven’t tried any other Twitter clients, but I’m getting some good suggestions from you all. If you haven’t tried TweetCaster, I do highly recommend it.

  • Rayners DR

Twicca and his plugins are everything i use, everything i need, all very convenient.

  • Doni

Twicca and Tweatdeck. Love both. Each had features I like that the other doesn’t, so I tend to bounce back and forth between the two.

    • Doni

Type… Meant to type TweakDeck, not TweatDeck (lest it be confused with TweetDeck). :-)

  • SGB101

    Non, I don’t get twitter;o)

  • Azzoth

My favorite is Boid, Tweet Lanes is close so i check the updates of both of them.
Here is a ranking of Android Twitter apps:
You can rank your favorite ones by positions.

  • MoSDeeb

My past favorite was the official Tweetdeck, but I’ve stuck with the offical Twitter for about 2 years or so. No complaints and it gets the job done.

  • TheBenCourt

Loving Tweet Lanes at the moment, still waiting to try Boid on my Nexus 7, apparently the next update is coming soon which will add support for the device

  • Steve

Anyone using Flipboard seems kinda neat.
